Did you know good posture can make you look 5 lbs thinner?
Today’s guest blog from Dr. Cristina Poulos of Stamford Balance, health|chiropractic|wellness, tells you how in 3 easy steps:

Good posture can make you look taller, more confident, and even 5 pounds thinner in pictures and videos! Do these easy exercises daily to help reverse the look of those rounded shoulders and overall bad posture!

1. Seated Scapular Retraction:
Sit upright on a chair maintaining good posture. Interlock your fingers and place your arms behind your head. Your elbows should be resting in front of your ears. While maintaining good upright posture and keeping your neck in a neutral position, squeeze your shoulder blades together as your elbows swing outward. Hold this position for 5 seconds then relax. Repeat for 12 reps.

2. Wall Angels:
Begin standing with shoulder blades against the wall. Place arms against wall with elbows below shoulder level, bent to 90 degrees with palms facing forward. While maintaining forearm contact with the wall, slide arms upward squeezing shoulder blades together. Stop when your forearms can no longer maintain contact with the wall (your hands should be about 6 inches apart) and hold for 5 seconds, then return to starting position. Repeat for 12 reps.

3. Doorway Chest Stretch:
Place forearms on either side of a doorway. Elbows should be bent to 90 degrees and slightly below shoulder level. While maintaining forearm contact, lean your body into doorway until gentle stretch is felt in the chest and shoulders. Hold for 20 seconds then return to starting position. Repeat for 12 reps.
